SHORT BREAK IN WALES
On our Wales weekend break we take you to the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, the second largest national park in England and Wales. Covering almost a quarter of the country and has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With its magnificent scenery and of course Mount Snowdon itself, it is a perfect place for a great diversity of walks.
A wonderful outdoors location, where one can lose yourself in a timeless scenery made up of waterfalls, valleys, lakes and rugged peaks.
Day 1 Depart Dublin for Old Colwyn Bay
On day one we will leave Dublin/Dun Laoghaire for Holyhead, times vary depending on ferry schedule, but we normally depart Dun Laoghaire at 18.00hrs, travel time on the sea is approximately 2hrs
Once we reach Holyhead our drive down through north Wales to Old Colwyn Bay takes us approximately 50 minutes too our accommodation which is in the lively town of Old Colwyn Bay.
Day 2 Mount Snowdon
On the first walking day we will tackle the highest mount in Wales: Snowdon. Via the Pyg Track, an old mining trail, that leads to the summit at 1085 metres. On our descent you will enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of the Welsh mountains, finishing in the beautiful town of Llanberis.
Distance: 11.5 km/7 miles, Ascent: 735 m/2205 ft
Day 3 Valleys, Lakes & Awe-Inspiring Views
On our next day we will do a circular walk starting in the small village of Capel Curig, set in the heart of the National Park. This walk takes us through a mixture of forests, valleys, lakes and wide-open mountainsides with awe-inspiring views. We will finish off the day with a pint of our favourite brew in the village!
Distance: 16.5 km/9 miles, Ascent: 580 m/1740 ft
Day 4 The Great Orme & Prehistoric Mine
On our final day you have the choice to either go shopping in the town, or take a short relaxing trip with us to the Great Orme. While we are there we will visit the old Copper Mine, which dates back over 4000 years and is the world's largest Prehistoric Mine. We will be departing Colwyn Bay early in the afternoon to catch our ferry back to Dublin. Arriving back in Dun Laoghaire at approximately 17.10
